Abhinav Sreekumar and Vishruth Devan from St. Jude’s Public School and Junior College, Kotagiri, came down from the blue mountains to lift the trophy as winners of the Chennai Edition of TCS IT Wiz 2019 quiz competition.
They won a trophy and gift vouchers worth ₹60,000.
As winners of the regional finals, the duo will go on to represent Chennai at the national finals in Mumbai, to be held later this year.
The runners up were G. Nikhil and S. Saimadhav from SRDF Vivekananda Vidyalaya. They won silver medals and gift vouchers worth ₹40,000.
The inter-school quiz competition was held for students of classes VII through IX, as a part of the “knowledge initiative” they started in 1999.
“It was great to see the performance of the schools today. I have to say I was rooting for Kotagiri from the beginning because I saw that they were runners up last year. This is a great way to encourage students to learn,” said Susan Grace, Australian Consul-General in Chennai.
