Interim injunction against ‘I’ release

The Madras High Court on Thursday granted an interim injunction restraining the producer, distributors, film laboratories and digital projection services from releasing the Vikram and Amy Jackson-starrer ‘I’ in the country and abroad till January 30.

Justice R.Mahadevan passed the interim order on an application by Picturehouse Media Ltd., Chetput. The applicant alleged non-compliance of commercial and financial agreements between it and Aascar Films Pvt. Limited, the producer. The film is scheduled for release on January 15. The applicant said that the matter be settled through arbitration.

While passing the interim order, Mr.Justice Mahadevan asked the parties to settle the issue through arbitration. He ordered issue of notice.
