An inspector attached to the Anna Nagar police station, rescued an accident victim and rushed him to the hospital in his official vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.
On August 14 around 12.30 p.m, Saravanan, an inspector attached to the Anna Nagar police station, was returning from Puzhal prison to his station.
“When I was passing through a locality called Cycle Shop near Puzhal, I spotted a crowd by the roadside and stopped the vehicle to enquire,” said Mr. Saravanan. He spotted a man with a head injury, lying on the ground, with his two-wheeler next to him.
“The injured was identified as Kamala Kannan, 36, of Villivakkam. His two-wheeler was hit by an autorickshaw and the driver had fled the spot,” added the inspector.
The public claimed that the ambulance did not arrive, even though they had called it immediately after the accident. “With the help of the public, the injured was taken into the jeep and then to a nearby hospital. He was given first aid and thereafter taken to the Stanley Hospital for further treatment,” said Mr. Saravanan.
The inspector informed the victim’s brother about the accident.
“I have been enquiring about his health and he is still critical,” Mr. Saravanan said.
