Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday said people living in hill areas such as Kodaikanal and the Nilgiris would get induction stoves instead of table fans in view of the cold climate prevailing there.

In a statement here, she said people in the Nilgiris district and Kodaikanal in Dindigul district had requested her to distribute induction stoves to them because they could not use table fans.

They had said induction stoves would be useful for cooking.

“Government schemes are meant to benefit people. So, we will give them induction stoves along with mixer and grinders,” she added.

Ms. Jayalalitha said the free mixer, grinder and table fans scheme was introduced by her government to reduce the burden of housewives who were tied down to the kitchen most of the time.
