PMK leader S. Ramadoss on Friday accused the Tamil Nadu government of giving incorrect details about closure of TASMAC-run retail liquor shops in the State.
Recalling the State government’s submission before the Madras High Court that it had closed 1,000 retail liquor shops, Dr. Ramadoss said it was totally contrary to the fact since the AIADMK government opened 273 shops in 2012 and again 37 shops in 2013.
“Even though the DMK government made a policy statement in the Assembly that it would not open new liquor shops, the AIADMK government went ahead with opening shops. It also opened elite liquor shops in cities like Chennai and Coimbatore and the figure touched 6835 in the State,” he said.
Dr. Ramadoss said the anger of the people would be seen in the 2016 Assembly election against the AIADMK government.
