Girl commits suicide at mall

A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of Forum Vijaya Mall at Vadapalani here on Saturday evening.

The police said the girl, identified as Niveda Hari, daughter of Hari Kumar, was residing at Sri Sai Nagar, Virugambakkam; she was a class XII student.

The girl came to the mall in the evening, and around 6.30 p.m., she is suspected to have jumped from the fourth floor of the car parking area at the mall. The girl was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but died on the way.

The Vadapalani police have registered a case. Further investigation is on.
