The Pulianthope police on Thursday busted a gang peddling ganja in the city and arrested five persons, including a woman. Acting on a tip-off, Commissioner of Police A.K. Viswanathan asked the Pulianthope Deputy Commissioner of Police to nab the gang.

A special team led by inspector Ravi reached Doss Nagar, Kannigapuram, and deployed a decoy on the pretext of buying ganja. Jothi, 35, was caught red-handed selling ganja in small packets to prospective buyers. The ganja was packed in two quantities to be sold for ₹500 and ₹100 each.

On interrogation, her associates, four men, were arrested and 48 kg of ganja was seized from them.
