Four teenagers die in accidents in Tambaram, Chetpet

The victims were riding motorbikes; investigation is on

Four teenagers died in two bike accidents at Tambaram and Chetpet on Saturday.

In the accident on the Tamabaram-Somangalam road, two college students Vignesh,19, of Irumbuliyur, and Prathap, 18, of Tambaram died after the bike collided head-on with another bike.

According to the police, Vignesh, Prathap and Harikrishnan, 20, of Tambaram were riding back home in a bike after visiting a friend’s house in Somangalam. Around 9.30 p.m., their bike collided with another motorcycle, which Sanjay Kumar, 19, and his brother Sathishkumar, 17, of Somangalam were riding.

Prathap died on the spot and Vignesh succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Harikrishnan was rushed to the hospital along with Sanjay Kumar and Satishkumar. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

In the accident at Chetpet on Saturday night, Abishek and Akash died after their bike hit a lamp post on the Dr. Gurusamy bridge in Chetpet. The two had recently completed Plus Two and were working in a bakery in Kilpauk.

They were returning home after meeting a friend, when the accident happened. Police said it was a case of overspeeding.

Mechanic run over

A 36-year-old man was run over by an MTC bus while returning home on Sunday morning.

The victim, G. Manikandan, was a resident of Pozhichalur.

On the Pozhichalur main road, the MTC bus, M 52, knocked down his two-wheeler.

He came under the wheels of the bus and died on the spot.

The bus driver, V. Balakrishnan of Chengalpattu, has been arrested.
