The body of a 22-year-old was found by passersby in the subway near Ponneri railway station on Friday.

The police said the deceased, Ajit, was a resident of Alar village, Ponneri. He and his friend, Jawahar, had an altercation and Ajit allegedly threatened to hire thugs to beat up Jawahar.

“On Thursday night, Jawahar and his friends took Ajit for a drink near the Ponneri railway station and murdered him,” said a police officer.

The body was sent for post-mortem. Four suspects including Jawahar surrendered before a court on Friday.
