The Pattabiram police on Thursday arrested four persons for brutally assaulting a youth in a gas filling station on Tuesday night.
A video of the history-sheeters attacking the youth went viral from Wednesday morning. The police said Purushothaman, 18, of Gopalapuram, studying in an ITI, has been working in the bunk part time.
At 10.30 p.m on Tuesday, four persons came in an auto and demanded him to fill fuel to their vehicle first.
They, in an inebriated condition, picked up quarrel.
The youth asked them to come in the queue. But they refused. One of them drew a knife and attacked Purushothaman.
They fled the scene after creating a ruckus and the staff at the fuel station rushed Purushothaman to a nearby hospital where he was given 11 stitches.
Pattabiram inspector V. Palani scrutinised the CCTV footage and arrested the four persons.
Two of the suspects were involved in several crimes, including murder. They were remanded in judicial custody.
