Electronic component manufacturer Flex (earlier Flextronics) is looking to expand its facilities in Chennai and has sought state government support for speedy help in terms of establishing a location.

“We are looking to expand our components manufacturing base in India and particularly Tamil Nadu. We already have four manufacturing facilities and want to expand,” Arijit Sen Senior Director, Global Government Affairs and Public Policy, Flex Group told State Industries Minister M.C. Sampath at an interactive session at FICCI National Executive Committee Meeting in Chennai.

Mr. Sen stressed the need for some urgency in quickly sorting out the issues with regards to the location.

Sources said that the company wants the new facility to be near its existing facility in Sriperumbudur, but there are some issues on the location, which the company wants to sort out.

Responding to Mr. Sen, Neeraj Mittal, MD and CEO of Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau, said the Minister had been informed about the issue and assured the company of all support.
