The Tamil Nadu government should appoint a senior IAS officer to look into anomalies in guideline values across the State and rectify them, according to a petition by the Tamil Nadu Registration Department Officials Association (TNROA) to the State government.
“Despite the guideline value being raised by three to four times, the State has not benefited. The government should look into the discrepancies and fix the loopholes,” S.E. Vasudhevan, president, TNROA, said in a statement on Saturday.
Rs. 20,000-crore revenue
If the discrepancies are set right, the government can realise a revenue of about Rs. 20,000 crore per year, he said. In 2014-15, the State realised only about Rs. 8,500 crore despite an increase in guideline value, according to the statement.
The TNROA has also called upon the government to investigate societies and chit funds and to take action against unauthorised chit funds.
The association also wanted the government to reinstate 30 officials who were suspended by the department.
