With the final match of the current IPL season to be played out in Chepauk this week, cricket fans in the city will be glued to TV screens to watch their favourite players from various teams until the final on May 24{+t}{+h}.

People like 31-year-old Madhu Prakash however will miss the thrill of watching the match live at the stadium.

He says, “There is nothing like watching the game live. I feel we should have had at least one of the knock-out matches in Chennai. After all, we have one of the strongest teams.”

Samyuktha an oral and maxillofacial surgeon says, “Whether Chennai Super Kings plays or not, I will be watching every match very closely. As soon as I come back home, I switch on the TV and watch the match. ”

While Samyuktha says that watching a match live at the stadium is exciting, she also says that watching a live telecast at home with family has its own pleasures. She says: “It has become a way to unwind and spend time with the family. We also go as a group to a restaurant and watch the match on big screens.”

Till the 24th of this month, cricket fans do not have to worry about evening plans, with telecasts of the IPL 2015 promising relentless excitement.

Yet another iconic show ends

In the year 2000, when CSI – Crime Scene Investigation was given a Friday 9 p.m. time slot, no one expected the show to become the global phenomenon it is today, spawning three spin-offs and being on air for 15 years.

However, after the long run, it will not be renewed for the sixteenth season.

“Every episode is so unpredictable that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. This show deeply satisfied me as I am fascinated by forensic science. Now that it is ending, I will unwillingly shift to another show with a similar concept — Blacklist,” says Srikanth R., a media student.

A two-hour-TV film, which will be the series finale, will be aired on September 27.

The event will bring back the series’ original stars William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger, who will join Ted Danson, the current lead. Danson will later join the cast of CSI: Cyber, which has been renewed for a second season.

The critics were divided after reports of its continuation.

While some were of the opinion that there should be a proper farewell with a short sixteenth season, others said that since most of the major characters have left, the show should be put to rest.

Meanwhile, social media forums were abuzz with fans who wanted a proper farewell for their favourite show.
