Young Krishik Santhosh, who underwent a surgery on Tuesday, is doing better now, his doctor and family said. Krishik was involved in an escalator accident at Spencer Plaza earlier this week, in which three fingers of his right hand (index, middle and ring) were severed.
In a long and challenging procedure, doctors at Right Hospitals managed to reattach the fingers, but their viability is still uncertain, said G. Balakrishnan, medical director and consultant plastic surgeon at the hospital. “We will know more on Monday, when we are planning to check the fingers. They may or may not be 100 per cent viable. He is doing well otherwise,” he said.
Krishik’s mother, Saranya Pethi said her was son was better now. “The surgery is over but the condition of the fingers is yet to be revealed. We will be staying in Chennai until his treatment is completed,” she said. Ms. Pethi is from Bangalore and lives in Kolhapur. She said Krishik had turned when on the escalator and lost balance. The family had rushed to hospital after retrieving his fingers.
