A 37-year-old field assistant of Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) was electrocuted while he was attending to a fault in Chromepet on Monday.

S. Hari of Lakshmipuram, Chromepet, climbed on the transformer at Kothandam Nagar, around 1 p.m. to carry out a repair work in one of the incoming power supply lines. He came into a contact with the livewire accidentally and was thrown off from the top and suffered serious head injuries, EB staff said.  Technical staff who were present around the transformer, rushed the victim to a private hospital for treatment, where doctors pronounced him ‘dead on arrival’. Further investigations are on. – Staff Reporter
