The DMK party flag measuring 30 feet in length and 20 feet wide, flies on the 2,430 kg flag mast.

The DMK flag was hoisted by party president M.K. Stalin atop a 114-ft-high flag pole erected at Anna Arivalayam, the party’s headquarters, here on Wednesday.

The flag, measuring 30 feet in length and 20 feet in width, was hoisted atop the 2,430 kg mast. The lamps installed on the mast would ensure the visibility of the flag round-the-clock. DMK treasurer Duraimurugan, principal secretary T.R. Baalu and senior party functionaries were present.

‘Avoid visit on Dec. 16’

The DMK requested party workers to avoid visiting the head office for the unveiling of the statue of late DMK leader and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on December 16, since the event would be telecast at the public meeting at YMCA Grounds, Royapettah at the same time.

In order to avoid a space crunch and ensure less traffic, arrangements have been made to ensure participation of senior party functionaries only, who have been invited as ‘Special Invitees’ to attend the event on December 16, a release said.

Soon after the unveiling of the statue, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Stalin, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy would attend the public meeting at YMCA.
