A flood control room has been set up in Kancheepuram to handle emergency calls from neighbouring areas due to the inclement weather.
On Tuesday, district collector L. Sitherasenan said adequate precautionary steps have been taken in the district to take care of any rain-related incidents.
Twenty two relief centres have been kept ready to accommodate people in case of inundation. A 24-hour flood control room has been set up at the district collectorate at Kancheepuram.
People seeking relief or rescue can call on 1077 or 27237107 to ensure quick mobilization of relief teams to the affected areas.

The collector said that seven mobile rescue teams have been formed and a close watch will be kept on coastal areas, along the East Coast Road, Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road), Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road and the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway.
Automatic cutters would be pressed into service in case of uprooting of trees due to heavy winds, he said.
In Tiruvallur, authorities have set up a flood control room at the district collectorate in Tiruvallur.
In case of emergency, residents can call on 1077 or 27666746 for assistance, a press release said.
