CRPF lady constable’s transfer order stayed

May 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - CHENNAI:

Coming to the aid of a lady CRPF constable posted at Avadi, whose daughter is being treated in a city hospital for depression, the Madras High Court has granted an interim stay on the constable’s transfer to Gujarat.

When the case came up for hearing in the Vacation Bench, Justice R. Mahadevan granted an interim stay on the transfer. Petitioner S. Latha, a general constable of the CRPF at Avadi submitted that her daughter, suffering from depression was being treated by experts at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai.

While so, she was transferred to Gujarat and her representations earlier this month to authorities explaining her situation has not been considered and hence the petition.

The CRPF has failed to consider that her Class X daughter was suffering from depression and at this stage she required the help of her mother, the petitioner said.

“It is highly inappropriate on the part of the authorities to transfer me at his juncture. Though it is understood that the transfer is incidental to the service, the respondents are duty bound to consider the peril of their employees also,” she submitted.

Since her transfer order was displayed in a notice board and as she didn’t have a copy of the order, she couldn’t produce it for the perusal of the court; she said and further sought to quash the transfer order.
