Couple commits suicide in Chennai

December 15, 2013 05:08 am | Updated 05:08 am IST - CHENNAI:

A couple was found dead on Saturday, some days after they reportedly committed suicide at their home in Nanganallur. Shanmugham (58) and his wife Latha (48) were residents of Lakshmi Nagar. Shanmugham was an interior decorator and his wife a homemaker. They consumed poison some days ago.

As they were unable to reach their parents on their mobile phones, the couple’s children, who are studying in Coimbatore, informed a relative living in Madipakkam. The relative visited the couple’s home on Saturday morning and suspected something amiss. A Pazhavanthangal police team broke open the door and saw the couple’s bodies in a decomposed state.

Sneha, a voluntary organisation that runs a 24-hour suicide helpline, can be reached at 044 2464 0050.
