PMK founder, Dr. Ramadoss, on Friday asked why the State Government is not forming a Lok Ayukta in Tamil Nadu even 50 days after the law was passed in the State Assembly. In a statement, Dr. Ramadoss said that PMK has been fighting against Lok Ayukta for 5 years since the Dravidian parties have made it a point not to pass the bill.

“The Lok Ayukta selection council should have been formed after it was passed on July 9. The bill should have been published in the Gazette and Lok Ayukta should have been formed. Since none of this was done, the deadline was pushed to September 10,” said Ramadoss.

He said that the ‘Benami’ government has not done anything more than passing the bill. “It is a bill without any teeth to bite. It has many holes. IN the administration, major corruption is happening in giving out contracts in local bodies. The Lok Ayukta is not empowered to investigate these contracts,” said Ramadoss.

Ramadoss said that it is easy to imagine how much corruption could have taken place if the State Government is scared to implement a toothless Lok Ayukta.
