Congress seeks GIM report card

The Tamil Nadu government should provide a report card on the investments that were pledged at the Global Investors Meet in 2015 and disclose which investments were made in which districts, how many jobs were created and when these things happened, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su. Thirunavukkarasar said.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he said the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led government was using the GIM as an election stunt and was making an attempt to show the Chief Minister as trying to outdo the party’s late leader Jayalalithaa. “Even the High Court has expressed doubts about the investment figures. If these have actually happened, the government should showcase them rather than spending public money ahead of polls,” he said.

Mr. Thirunavukkarasar said the Congress would soon form various committees for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He demanded that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi be investigated in connection with the death of Jayalalithaa and that the investigation be done by a Central agency under the supervision of a sitting judge.

He slammed the groundbreaking ceremony of AIIMS in Madurai. “The AIIMS was announced long ago, and even the place was finalised. What is the need to have the event now, ahead of the elections? The Prime Minister and the Chief Minister should also apologise to the people as neither the national anthem nor the Thamizh Thaai Vaazthu was played at the government event. This raises the doubt whether it was a government function or just a BJP event,” he said.
