Amala Akkineni will play a major role in a MEDICAL DRAMA, ‘Uyirmei’, which will be telecast on Zee Tamil from tomorrow

Popular yesteryear actor Amala Akkineni is making a comeback in Tamil, but not to the big screen.

She will play an important role in a medical drama titled ‘Uyirmei’, which will be aired on Zee Tamil from August 18.

The initial episodes of ‘Uyirmei’ will revolve around the lives of doctors, their work and relationships.

Filmmaker V. Priya, who has earlier made films such as ‘Kanda Naal Mudhal’, has been roped in as the creative director for the series.

Stating that the medical drama is more than just the lives of doctors, she said, “It offers an insight into the lives of patients as well.”

At a recent press interaction, actor Amala said it was nice to be back after 20 years. “I watch a lot of television serials, especially medical dramas. ‘Uyirmei’ will not just be about medical treatments; it will delve into the lives of doctors and their families too. It is a script rich with information,” she said.

The first episode, which will be aired at 8 p.m. on Monday, will show a team of doctors dealing with victims of a fire accident.
