Senior Counsel C.S. Vaidyanathan, representing Chief Minister ‘Edappadi’ K. Palaniswami, on Monday completed his arguments before Justice M. Sathyanarayanan, the third judge hearing a batch of writ petitions filed by 18 disqualified AIADMK MLAs challenging their disqualification on the ground of defection. The judge was told that senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, representing Chief Government Whip S. Rajendiran, who had lodged a complaint under the anti-defection law against the 18 writ petitioners before Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal on August 24 last year, shall commence his arguments on Tuesday. Since senior counsel C. Aryama Sundaram, representing the Speaker, has already concluded his arguments, the hearing would be wound up after Mr. Rohatgi completes his arguments and senior counsel P.S. Raman as well as representative, Mohan Parasaran, were given chance for replies.
