Commuters are relieved to find that a shelter has come up at the MTC bus stop near Meenambakkam Metro Station. A few months ago, this bus stop was located near the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, Meenambakkam. It had to be relocated to facilitate pavement work on Grand Southern Trunk Road. Though a bus stop was created, there was no shelter and commuters had to wait in the open, near an electric transformer.
Following an article in The Hindu Downtown on May 19, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited has put up a shelter a few metres from the transformer. Also, commuters are happy to find that ‘deluxe’ and ‘express’ services of MTC halt at this new stop now. Earlier, only route numbers with ‘white’ boards halted.
The route numbers that now halt at this stop are: 70A (Avadi to Vandalur Zoo); 21G (Tambaram to Broadway); G18(Guduvancherry to T. Nagar); 1B(Tambaram to Thiruvottiyur); E18( Guduvancherry to Korukkupet) and G70 (Vadapalani to Guduvancherry).
