The CMBT police arrested a 22-year-old woman and her boyfriend who staged a kidnap drama to extort money from her father to help the youth go abroad. The police said that A. Vidya, a nurse, was in a relationship with Mano, 25.
Vidya’s father Arumugam received a call demanding a ransom of ₹10 lakh. Investigation with the help of call records led to the arrest of 25-year-old Mano, who worked in a software firm. Interrogation revealed he and Vidya were in a relationship and they hatched the plan. Vidya was arrested from Cuddalore.
