‘Chennai film-makers have missed out on Taiwan’

Taiwanese Film Festival inaugurated

Film-makers from Chennai would be encouraged to visit Taiwan and explore the possibility of shooting films in the country, said Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre director-general Charles C. Li.

Inaugurating the Taiwanese Film Festival on Monday, Mr. Li said film-makers in Tamil Nadu had missed out on Taiwan.

“Indian films are popular all over the world and you can shoot it in Switzerland, London or Singapore. Only Taiwan has been missed out. That is why a few years ago, we tried making arrangements to invite some producers and directors to visit Taiwan,” said Mr. Li.

“I encourage you to spend time in Taiwan,” said Mr. Li.

Chennai Income Tax Commissioner Jayaram Raipura said film-makers in Chennai could also learn from Taiwan.
