Employees of a private car manufacturing company, returning from their morning shift, had a narrow escape when their bus overturned on GST Road, near Pallavaram-Thiruneermalai Road intersection, on Friday.

The driver of the bus, Prasanna (25), and passengers Suchitra (25) and Sivaraman (26) were injured and treated as outpatients at a private hospital nearby.

The accident that took place around 4.15 p.m. led to a traffic snarl for more than 45 minutes.

The bus carrying about 20 employees from Maraimalai Nagar was going towards Neelankarai.

Near Pallavaram-Thiruneermalai Road intersection, driver Prasanna applied brakes suddenly to avoid hitting the vehicle in front. The bus crashed into the road divider and overturned in the middle of the road, damaging a car that was tailing it.

The car driver Ilayaraja and passengers Karthikeyan escaped unhurt.
