At the launch of a compilation of management guru C.K. Prahalad’s anecdotes and experiences — C.K. Prahalad — Mind of the Futurist by Benedict Paramanand — at Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) on Monday, several corporate leaders extolled his unique approach to management strategy.

Lakshmi Narayanan, vice-chairman of CTS, recalled the impact of his meetings with Mr. Prahalad. “C.K. had two simple things to say: have the best people behind any idea you or your company has, and proportionate investment should go into ideas that make you and your company distinct,” he said.

Author Benedict Paramanand said his main aim in writing the book was to make Mr. Prahalad more accessible. “Where are the dreamers, he asked often, and he wanted to instil a fire in everyone’s belly to achieve more,” he said.

Gopal Srinivasan, chairman and managing director of TVS Capital Funds Ltd, who released the book, also spoke. Rev. Fr. A.M. Francis Jayapathy, rector, Loyola College, received the first copy. Mr. Prahalad’s daughter, Deepa Prahalad, spoke. R. Maria Saleth, director of LIBA, and the management’s guru’s wife, Gayathri Prahalad, were present at the event attended by the management, students and staff.
