Diamond jubilee fete at city school

P.N. Dhawan Adarsh Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated its diamond jubilee annual day on Tuesday.

Run by the Punjab Association, the school started as Adarsh Vidyalaya Hindi Primary school in July 1954, with 37 children and five teachers, a press release said.

The school located in Royapettah has around 2,500 students and 100 teachers now. The institution was upgraded to a higher secondary school in 1978, the release said.

Chief guest governor K. Rosaiah addressed the gathering and distributed prizes. Bharath Bhushan Goyal, president, Punjab Association, Ramesh Lamba, general secretary, and D.N. Lalitha, educational advisor, Adarsh Group of Schools, were among those present.
