Anna Nagar Zone of Chennai Corporation organised Voter’s Awareness Rally at D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam recently.

S. Elangovan, Assistant Commissioner, Zonal Office 8, Corporation of Chennai and Electoral Registration Officer, Anna Nagar and Villivakkam constituencies, inaugurated the rally. More than 500 students participated. Pamphlets with slogans about the duties of citizens, voter rights and responsibility were distributed.

Urging young students above 18 years to exercise their franchise, Mr. Elangovan also highlighted the duty of the Chennai Corporation to include them in the voter’s list.

Mr. Narasimhan stressed on the need of “Pudhiya Bharadham,” which youth at the helm of affairs, drawing inspiration from great saints, patriots and freedom fighters.

Oratorical, street play and mime competitions were also held highlighting the role of youth in nation building.
