Crestech 2012, a national-level technical symposium, was held at B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent University in Vandalur recently.

The four-day event attracted nearly 4,000 students from around 150 engineering colleges and other technical institutions.

The event had 11 concurrent technical symposiums – confluence, civiclan, Cygnus, impulse, icon, arcane, macron, cyberfest, precision, jetscreech and autohunt — organised by 11 departments of the university.

Major topics

Some of the major topics covered in the symposium included future automobiles, smart vehicles, green vehicles, sustainable structures, nano composites, polymer composites for aerospace applications, smart grids, robotics and automation, virtual instrumentation, intelligent manufacturing systems, network security, genetic programming, bio-informatics, VLSI and embedded systems, disaster management and mitigation.

Cash awards and certificates were given to winners of various competitions.

The symposium was organised by the professional societies of respective departments in the university with a keen foresight, challenge and professionalism of the students to bring out the best in their counterparts in other institutions, said a note from the university.
