Tinsel Town: In his father's footsteps

Work on the debut film of ‘Captain’ Vijayakanth’s son Shanmugapandian, Sagaptham is nearing completion, according to the film unit.

A lot of surprises are being planned in the debut vehicle, at least one of which is confirmed to be a ‘kuthu’ song sung by STR, Andrea and Ramya Nambeesan. The song is going to be shot on a lavish stage set up at a cost of Rs. 1 crore, according to a press note from the film makers.

Shanmugapandian seems set to follow in the footsteps of his father in a typical hero-centric formulaic film. A press note from the film unit noted songs in fashion – ‘hero introduction’ song, duet song and ‘kuthu paatu’ and so on. It also looks like he will romance two heroines – Neha Singh and Subhra Aiyappa – in the film.

When the movie was unveiled last year, it was announced that a debutant director Santosh Kumar Rajan would be helming the film. But, he was later replaced by another director Surendran, reportedly because of creative differences with the producers. The audio of the film scored by Karthikraja Jeeva is expected to release soon.
