Tinsel town: Debutant director aims for X-mas release

After four years, S Pictures, a production company owned by ace director S. Shankar, is back in the limelight.

The company is all set to release Kappal, directed by debutant Karthik G. Krish.

The film, starring Vaibhav and first-time actor Sonam Bajwa, treads on the lines of friendship and love.

“But, this movie will have a different twist and will show the impact of a possessive friendship in a lighter vein,” says Karthik, former associate of director Shankar.

Karthik had assisted in the making of Endhiran and Sivaji before venturing out to make his mark in filmdom.

With V.T.V. Ganesh, Karunakaran and Arjun in supporting roles, Kappal promises to be a laugh riot that will linger on for sometime in the audience’s memory. The title symbolises the friendship between the pivotal characters.

Keeping with the trend of remix songs, Kappal too will have a remix of the popular song, O oru vittu, ooru vandhu.

“There is a specific reason for featuring this song in the movie, shot mostly in Chennai. The audience will understand it when they watch the film,” says Karthik. The film is expected to be released on Christmas Day.
