Chennai region recorded a pass percentage of 99% in the Class 10 board exam results announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 6.
The region, which encompasses Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, was behind the Trivandrum region, which recorded a pass percentage of 99.85% — the highest in the country.
One student from Tamil Nadu found a place in the list of 97 toppers from across the country. B. Kaviya Varshini, a student of the Vidhya Niketan Public School, Puliakulam Road, Coimbatore secured 497 marks out of 500.
Of the 17.61 lakh students who appeared for the board exam from across the country, nearly 2.25 lakh students scored above 90%. The exams were conducted from February 15 to April 4.
