Car accident, one dead

A car driven by a 28-year-old man ran amok on Besant Avenue Road in Besant Nagar on Friday night, knocking down a motorcyclist. The car driver died later of injuries sustained.

His passenger and the motorcyclist are battling for their lives. The accident took place around 10.30 p.m. on Friday. R. Srinivasan, a lab technician and resident of Big Street in Triplicane, was driving his friend Jayakrishnan’s (29) car. Jayakrishnan was in the passenger seat.

“Srinivasan lost control and rammed a tree in an attempt to evade a motorcyclist. But, he hit the motorcycle and its rider Divakar (20) was injured. Srinivasan and Jayakrishnan also suffered severe injuries,” said the police.

They were taken to Government General Hospital, where Srinivasan died on Saturday morning. Jayakrishnan and Divakar are undergoing treatment.
