Businessman Ranvir Shah, from whose house the Idol Wing police seized several antique idols on Thursday, has said as per the search warrant issued by the additional chief judicial magistrate, Kumbakonam, the Idol Wing DSP, along with his team, came to his house on Thursday to enquire and take possession of the idols for further investigation and examination.

In a statement, he said the idols seized by the DSP from his residence and taken possession in the presence of IG Ponn Manickavel were purchased by him for interior aesthetics and for complying with Vastu suggestions.

They were also used for worship.

The idols were the same as available in the market and they were purchased legally with appropriate and valid documents to authenticate the same, he said.

Mr. Shah said that being a law-abiding citizen, he would produce all the necessary documents before the court and recover the same following due process of law through his legal counsel.
