Bala Kailasam Memorial Award for Assamese filmmaker

Mukul Haloi will get cash prize, citation

The Bala Kailasam Memorial Award for excellence in documentary film-making will be given to Mukul Haloi, for his Assamese documentary ‘Loralir Sadhukatha’ (Tales from our Childhood).

The award was instituted by Cinema Rendezvous trust to celebrate and recognise the vision of Bala Kailasam, a documentary film-maker and activist, who was also a television professional.

In its fourth edition, the BKMA has chosen to focus on the medium of documentary film making and the works considered for the award were the ones that stood out in terms of content and cinematic language with the intent to impact society.

Mr. Haloi will receive a cash prize and a citation for his responsible and innovative use of media techniques without compromising on the ethical practices expected of the Media at the awards ceremony to be held on January 19 at the NFDC Tagore Film Centre, here in Chennai, at 5.30 p.m.
