Traffic to be diverted on major roads

The city police have made elaborate security arrangements ahead of the Vinayaka idol processions. The traffic police announced that it would effect traffic diversion on Kamarajar Road and Santhome High Road.

As more idols are expected to be immersed at Srinivasapuram, Foreshore Estate, roads from Labour Statue to Greenways Point, Loop Road near Santhome, South Canal Bank Road and Kutchery Road will have huge traffic.

Traffic is expected to pile up on all arterial roads like EVR Salai, Harrington Road, 100 Feet Road and Arcot Road, Valluvar Kottam High Road, Nungambakkam High Road, Kodambakkam High Road and Nelson Manikkam Road, Anna Rotary, Cathedral Road, Dr. Radha Krishnan Salai, Kamarajar Salai, Santhome High road and DGS Dinakaran Salai, between 12 noon and 8 p.m. Motorists have been asked to cooperate.

Vehicles coming from Wallajah Road, Bharati Salai, Besant Road, RK Salai, Kutchery Road and South Canal Bank road towards Kamarajar Salai and Santhome High Road will have to make their way through heavy traffic.

Vehicles from Adyar going towards Parry’s Corner will be diverted at Greenways Point to take the route via RK Mutt Road, Mandaveli Junction, Luz, Royapettah High Road, GRH point, Whites Road and Anna Salai.

Over 2,200 idols are likely to be taken in procession to be immersed in five locations. Nearly 10, 000 police personnel will be deployed for bandobust duty.
