On Tuesday, a father of a 11th standard girl from Tiruverkadu called up police control room.
His daughter was in a relationship with one Vasanth, 22, who has multiple cases including robbery, attempt to murder and assault against him.
When the father came to know of it, he tried to convince his daughter to stay away from him. As she did not listen, the father called the police control room and sought help.
The call was diverted to officers handling the women’s helpline.
Soon, an Amma Patrol vehicle arrived at his house.
Two women constables in the team counselled the schoolgirl and explained to her the dangers of the relationship she was in, as the youth had criminal cases registered against him.

Subsequently, the Tirumangalam All Women Police inspector Simina Banu called both Vasanth and the girl separately for counselling and convinced her to end the relationship, said a police officer, who was part of the patrol team.
Since August 26, when the patrol vehicles were rolled out, they have attended over 3,200 calls and rescued many women and children.
According to senior police officers, the All Women Police stations in the city come under the control of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Wing for Women and Children, H. Jayalakshmi, instead of the respective range Deputy Commissioners, which was the hierarchy earlier.
In one month
Till date, 3,263 calls have been attended and close to 600 awareness programmes on POCSO and women and child-related issues have been conducted, sources in the wing said.
The patrolling teams have attended a variety of cases so far.
“The women police at Thousand Lights station stopped a child marriage on September 10. Three days later, the personnel from Villivakkam police station rescued a boy from criminals with whom he was friendly with and encouraged him to study well. Besides, we have rescued abandoned and mentally-challenged senior citizens,” said a senior police officer.
