Alcohol refilling unit busted, 10 held

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Kancheepuram busted an alcohol refilling unit in Kancheepuram and arrested 10 persons on charges of preparing and serving adulterated alcohol products to customers in TASMAC bars.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police, PEW, Umayal, following a tip-off, police discovered that adulterated products were being prepared at a house in Munusamy Mudaliyar Avenue near Rengasamykulam.

The accused — Selvam of Govindamangalam, Suresh of Salaveli, Karthik of Pavalakanni hamlet and Balachandar of Oriyur — confessed to smuggling alcohol from Puducherry and mixing it with water before reselling it.

Six employees of various TASMAC shops were also arrested. Police seized 195 bottles of alcohol and Rs. 1.05 lakh in cash from the rented house in Kancheepuram.
