Aid continues to pour in for Kerala

Help is pouring in for the flood-ravaged people of Kerala from various quarters, including financial and educational institutions.

Manappuram Finance Ltd. has announced ₹2 crore in aid. The Managing Director and CEO of the company V.P. Nandakumar would be handing over the amount Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on August 24. In addition, the finance institution through the Manappuram Foundation, a corporate social responsibility arm of the organisation, has provided food, medicines and clothing in Thrissur and Ernakulam districts.

The SRM Group of Educational Institutions have given more than ₹one crore. The cheque was handed over to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by T.R. Paari Vendhar, founder and Chancellor, SRM Group. R.P. Satyanarayanan and R. Sivakumar of SRM Group of Institutions were also present.

SASTRA Deemed University has sent relief materials worth ₹60 lakh for the Kerala flood relief operations.

The Kancheepuram district has sent 120 tonnes of relief materials worth around ₹1.39 crore. According to Kancheepuram Collector’s office, rice bags, medicines, groceries, milk powder, edible oil, and other essential items have been despatched.

Loyola Rain Relief Service, an outreach arm of Loyola College, has collected ₹13 lakh in funds and ₹40 lakh worth of relief materials such as rice, dhal, clothes, sanitary wear and medicine. College’s alumnus G. Venugopal, chairman of Naidu Hall, donated new clothes worth ₹25 lakh to be distributed to the rain-affected people.

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee collected relief materials on Wednesday to be sent Kerala.

TNCC president Su. Tirunavukkarasar said apart from the relief materials, the TNCC will provide ₹10 lakh, the Congress trust ₹10 lakh, one month’s salary of Congress MLAs, and former MPs and MLAs from the party will contribute one month’s pension.

Poorvika Mobiles Private Limited has contributed ₹25 lakh to Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood affected people.
