The position on the number of Lok Sabha constituencies in which the AIADMK would contest would be known only after the finalisation of alliance with other parties, party coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam clarified on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the number of applications collected by aspirants crossed 400, said a source. During the course of the day, P. Venugopal, two-time Tiruvallur MP, was among those who presented their applications.

V. Maitreyan, now an MP through the Rajya Sabha, has collected forms for seeking the nomination for South or Central Chennai. When asked about the reported remarks of dissatisfaction by Dr. Maitreyan, the party coordinator replied that the MP had denied such reports. “May be some persons have differences of opinion. But all such issues would be sorted out in due course of time,” Mr. Panneerselvam added.
