Motorists taking Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road, West Tambaram, have requested the Chennai Traffic Police to install signboards between Irumbuliyur and West Tambaram flyover, which connects Mudichur Road and Velachery Main Road with GST Road.

At present, a signboard is installed at the entrance of a lane facilitating connectivity to the flyover.

The signboard indicates directions towards Velachery, Medavakkam, Mudichur and Chennai International Airport, but motorists say there should be more signboards before this one “arrives”.

Seeing this signboard, motorists tend to take a sudden left or right turn.

Moreover, motorists who are new to the neighbourhood, find it difficult to identify the routes without adequate signboards and they want more signboards to be installed from Irumbuliyur.

The traffic police personnel deployed at the intersection of a lane and GST Road, remain a mute spectator to traffic violations.

“Two-wheelers can easily take a left turn at the intersection of the service lane of the flyover and GST Road. However, four-wheelers will find it difficult to take a turn at the intersection to proceed on the elevated carriageway. Car drivers are forced to take a detour of about 2 km and take a U-turn at Kadaperi junction,” says A. Kumar, a resident of East Tambaram.
