Voice response system for property tax

September 20, 2009 01:15 am | Updated 01:15 am IST - Chennai

An interactive voice response system (IVRS) to property tax will be launched shortly by the Chennai Corporation.

The system would provide details such as tax arrears and the total outstanding of assessees, according to Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni.

It would help the civic body take the maximum number of calls on property tax details without employing additional manpower and respond through recorded voice messages. Tax payers need to call helpline 1913 for using the IVRS too.

The desired information would be available by following a voice prompted menu. The service would be provided in both English and Tamil.

After the activation of the IVRS, the user would have to enter the zone number, division number, four-digit bill number and the six-digit sub number.

The property tax transaction could be carried out using credit card by just entering the credit card number, security code and expiry date of the credit card.
