The national language and the official language of the States must be given due recognition in administrative communications, said speakers at a meeting here recently.
Pradip Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director (Language), Central Hindi Directorate, Union Ministry of Human Resources Department, said people must give equal importance to learning their mother tongue. The national language and the language of the State where they reside must be learnt by them. He was addressing the annual official language conference, organised by BSNL Chennai Telephones. A. Subramanian, Chief General Manager, Chennai Telephones, said the official language must be used in daily work so that the employees would be encouraged to learn it. Table-top cards containing file noting terms, in both English and Hindi, were released at the function. Chennai Telephones employees who contributed to Chennaivani , the annual Hindi magazine, were honoured.
