State Congress poll process begins today

The AICC on Saturday announced election schedule for various posts in the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. Ravi Mallu, chairman, State Election Authority and Pradesh Returning officer of Tamil Nadu, said the process would start on July 18 and be completed by July 26. Elections of office-bearers of the State-level body (TNCC) would be announced later. Nominations for the posts of booth and panchayat committees would be received on July 18, scrutinised the next day and elections, if necessary, will be held on July 20. For panchayat unions, town panchayats, municipalities, and corporations, applications would be received on July 21. Scrutiny would be on July 22 and elections, July 23. For district and urban Congress Committees nominations would be received on July 24. Scrutiny would be on the next day and elections conducted on July 26.

While primary members were eligible to contest for various office-bearer posts, special members alone could contest for post of president, vice-president, and treasurer at all levels.
