Stalin hands over awards to toppers of 10th and 12th classes' exams

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday handed over cash prizes and certificates of commendation to toppers of 10th and 12th classes’ examinations.

The prizes and certificates were issued to the students who belonged to the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, Denotified Communities and Minorities and those who studied in schools run by municipal corporations and municipalities.

In the first case, a total of 57 students received the cash prizes, valued at Rs. 12.35 lakh. For those who scored high marks in the 10th standard examination, the value of cash prize for the first, second and third slots had been revised as Rs. 25,000, Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively. As for the 12th standard examination, it had been enhanced as Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.

As regards the students of the urban local bodies, 30 students who figured in the rank list for the 10th standard and 25 students for the 12 standard were given a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each.

S Jasmine, student of the Tirunelveli Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School (Kallanai) and who came first in the 10th standard examination at the State level, and Sridevi Lakshmi, who belongs to the same school and came second among students of municipal corporation schools, were commended by Mr Stalin.

Among those who were present were K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, Backward Classes Minister, T.N. Ramanathan, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Secretary, and K. Ashok Vardhan Shetty, Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration and Water Supply).
