Singapore national robbed

A Singapore national, Gunson, aged about 60, was assaulted and robbed of his belongings at the Koyembedu bus terminus early on Wednesday morning.

Police sources said that the victim was walking along an isolated path around 1 a.m. when he was attacked by an unidentified person with an iron rod.

The victim was taken to a private hospital, after which he lodged a complaint with the Koyembedu police station.

Among the valuables reportedly missing is the victim's travel bag that contained his passport, Rs.1.3 lakh, $ 800 and Singapore $ 400, the sources said.

Police sources also revealed that they are perusing the footage recorded in the surveillance cameras at the Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus and adjacent business establishments to identify the suspect.

Inquires were made with autorickshaw drivers and roadside vendors on the movement of habitual offenders in the Koyembedu area, they added.
