HC gives his parents time till September 30 to approach Supreme Court

The Madras High Court late on Friday stayed till September 30 the post-mortem examination of Ramkumar, the accused in the murder of techie Swathi, whose death in jail last Sunday triggered a controversy. This is to enable his family to approach the Supreme Court seeking inclusion of an independent expert in the autopsy team. “No one, that too, a person, who lost his only son or has an apprehension regarding the cause of death of his son, should go empty handed, without any relief,” said Justice N. Kirubakaran. Making it clear the post-mortem shall be done on October 1, the judge directed that till such time, the body shall remain in the mortuary of the Government Royapettah Hospital.
