RPF convenes safety awareness meeting among licensed porters, auto and taxi drivers

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) recently convened a passenger safety awareness meeting among licensed porters, auto/taxi drivers, staff vendors and RPF Mitra Yojana volunteers.

Chairing the meeting, S. R. Gandhi, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner for RPF, Chennai Division, called for timely alerts to the RPF and Government Railway Police about suspicious or unclaimed objects on train and railway premises to bring down crimes against passengers, a press note from RPF said.

He also sought their participation in educating passengers to keep their luggage under lock and avoiding snacks from strangers.

The meeting on passenger awareness was initiated by M. Thiruselvam, RPF Inspector, Chennai Central.

The RPF personnel handed over a runaway Bengali boy found roaming the platform at Chennai Central railway station to the Don Bosco Anbu Illam. According to a press note, 12-year-old Kousik Hajra who fled his home hailed from Amta village in Howrah district.
